A Reimagined Master Bathroom Remodel in New Berlin
This Dark, Dated Space Underwent a Complete Overhaul
A Lighter, Brighter Bathroom Remodel Any Homeowner Would Love
The master bathroom in this New Berlin home was in serious need of not just a remodel, but a re-imagining. The dark orange walls, out-of-date gold fixtures, and stock cabinetry made the space feel ordinary when the homeowners wanted nothing short of extraordinary. That’s why they contracted Borth-Wilson Plumbing & Bathroom Remodeling for a major overhaul and inspired refresh.
From the Kohler BubbleMassage bathtub and tiled shower—complete with a rain showerhead—to the glass accents, custom quartz countertop, and in-floor heating system, every facet of this master bathroom remodel was planned with intent. We even installed a new makeup area with added cabinet space and mirrors to make this master bath feel more like an inviting, relaxing, and inspiring oasis. Read through the day-by-day breakdown below to see how we did it all in just 39 days.
A Glance at the Process
Day 1 – Day 4
We kicked off the project by taking the bathroom down to its studs, roughing in the electrical and plumbing connections, and installing the new shower base and walls to prep for the bathtub and shower. Unfortunately, the Kohler BubbleMassage bathtub we received was damaged so we had to reorder it with a rush delivery.
Day 5 – Day 12
Our next set of tasks included completing the drywall work, setting up the cabinetry, taking measurements for the quartz vanity top, and prepping the shower stall for intricate tile work. We also installed wiring for the in-floor heating system and tested it to ensure it worked correctly.
Day 13 – Day 21
The following week, our master tilers got to work tiling the shower and had it nearly completed in a matter of days. We finished up tile work on the floor and finalized the in-floor heating installation to keep the rest of the project moving.
Day 22 – Day 28
While waiting for our new Kohler BubbleMassage master bath to arrive, we installed the shower stall and finished up final paint touches, including the walls and ceiling. The homeowners selected a nice, refreshing color palette that really brightens up the space.
Day 29 – Day 33
We received the new defect-free bathtub, and installed and tested it right away. Once we knew the tub was in good, working condition, we finished up the tile work around the tub and completed the vanity installation and electrical work.
Day 34 – 39
The final piece to our remodeling puzzle was the glass shower door, which was slightly delayed. We ended up installing it on the very last day of the project—it truly was the cherry on top of this beautifully reimagined master bathroom remodel.
